22nd June 2012 - The Foodie Bugle Lectures
by Silvana de Soissons•30th March 2012
The second in the series of Foodie Bugle Lectures is going to be held on Friday 22nd June 2012 in the beautiful barns of Thyme at Southrop Manor Estate, near Lechlade, Gloucestershire, GL7 3NX.
We are inviting six of the prominent food and drink artisans and retailers, food and travel writers, photographers, chefs, cookbook authors and growers that we have featured in the last thirteen editions of The Foodie Bugle to each deliver 30 minute talks to a foodie audience, followed by a 15 minute Question and Answer session. They will talk openly about their work, what sort of business or activities they have set up or books they have written, what challenges they have faced, what they hope to achieve in the future, what legacy they would like to leave behind and, if they could turn back the hands of time, what they would have done differently if they had known then what they know now.
This sharing of knowledge and bringing together of collaborative minds will enable people from all parts of the food and drink industry to meet, learn, ask questions, share information, pitch ideas and be inspired by one another in a friendly and open environment. The names of the lecturers will be announced shortly.
The talented food photographer Pascale Cumberbatch of Extra Relish will be taking photos during the event, and blogs and articles will be written about the event.
The Thyme team will welcome you all with teas, coffees, biscuits and cold drinks and we will all enjoy a delicious, seasonal home grown lunch cooked by the cookery school Chefs Daryll Taylor and Marj Lang.
If you wish to purchase tickets please click here. The lectures are the only financing source of The Foodie Bugle online magazine, which takes no advertising and receives no sponsorship, but gives a worldwide publishing platform to hundreds of artisans, growers, food writers and photographers for free.
We look forward to welcoming you there.

7th September 2012 The Frome Cheese Show in Somerset
The Global Cheese Awards held at Frome Agricultural & Cheese Show has been well known for 150 years as the "Frome Cheese Show", one of the oldest cheese show's in Britain.
2011 saw the first Global Cheese Awards and was a phenomenal success; the classes had been expanded enabling international entries to be associated with a show worth being involved with. Entries grew by over 60% so you can see it's seriously the cheese place to be!
You can see the 167 classes in total that were introduced enabling both specialty and artisan cheeses to enter, as well as mass-produced cheese. Classes included Best European, Best West Country cheese, Best Overseas and Regional classes amongst others. These awards offer something for everyone!
What I am most excited about is that the cheeses get auctioned off .. but for those who just want to try new cheeses there are trade stands galore !

This show is the first event that is dedicated to the world of cakes and breads and taps into the UK’s growing passion for baking. I’ve been told that the show offers demos by some of the nation’s favourite bakers, plus tastings, workshops, a food market and equipment stands. It takes place at Earl’s Court in September and promises to be an amazing weekend!
